Mode Overview

Standard Mode (Play Deadlock) is Deadlock's flagship queue. Two teams of six players choose three preferred heroes and are matched based on hidden MMR and a hero-specific rating. Normal and ranked queues are currently merged, so every match affects your public rank badge (11 tiers from Initiate to Eternus). Matches take place on The Cursed Apple and follow the objective chain: Guardian → Walker → Base Guardians → Shrines → Patron. Games usually last 25–45 minutes and emphasize last-hitting, itemization, ability progression, and team objective control.

Mode Features

  • 6v6 PvP matchmaking with shared normal/ranked queue
  • Pre-game hero preference system with priority ranks
  • Four item categories: Weapon, Vitality, Spirit, and Flex
  • Global objectives: Mid-Boss, Soul Urn, and Powerups
  • Party queue and voice communication supported

Tips

  • Start with beginner-friendly heroes such as Abrams, Seven, and Haze
  • Do not buy only Weapon items; Vitality and Spirit are equally important
  • Respawn timers are long—defend towers instead of forcing fights when behind
  • Objective bounties are worth far more than kills; convert won fights into towers
  • Use Ziplines and Teleporters constantly to rotate across the map
